Music has always been about creating the right atmosphere—whether it’s a quiet moment or a full celebration.

My name is Grant Paxton, and I’m a musician based in Wake Forest, North Carolina. I spend my days running a small business, and my evenings playing music wherever people are gathered. I spend most of my time performing for weddings, private events, and local gatherings—anything from laid-back evenings to full celebrations.

I started playing music at a young age, first picking up the banjo around 11 years old and diving into folk, bluegrass, and americana. Not long after, I began playing trumpet, guitar and ukulele, expanding into covering songs across pop, country, blues, and other genres, while also writing original music and eventually recording a few releases along the way.

Over the years, music has taken me through a wide range of experiences—from performing in college choirs in Pittsburgh under the direction of Marvin Hamlisch and Dr. Robert Page, to teaching private lessons, leading worship music, and working with high school marching bands. I’ve also had the opportunity to open for groups like The Davidson Brothers and The Grascals, and to teach ukulele at Flagler College in St. Augustine.

More than anything, I’ve always enjoyed sharing music in real, everyday settings. I’ve played in cafes, breweries, weddings, fundraisers, corporate events, and community spaces across Pittsburgh, St. Augustine, Charlottesville, and now here in the Triangle.

These days, my wife Madison and I live in Wake Forest with our two sons, where we run a small print and design business together. Life at home is usually a mix of music, creativity, and keeping up with two active boys, and being part of this community has shaped a lot of what I do. In a lot of ways, the same things I value at home—connection, energy, and bringing people together—are what I try to bring into every event I play.

Whether it’s a quiet acoustic set or a full band, my goal is simple—to create music that feels natural, thoughtful, and right for the space.

If you’re planning something and looking for live music that’s easy to work with and tailored to your event, I’d love to connect.
